Under 13 End of Season Review

Though too short, this season will undoubtedly live in the memory for a long time. The management team began the season by letting Stamford nudge past us in both cup competitions (is there actually a proper draw made for these?) to allow the team to focus on league success and the promise of a return to the Premier League and the riches that follow. After a shaky start, our league form went from strength to strength. The boys learned fast, beating teams in the second half of the season that we had earlier struggled to come to terms with in the first half; the team adapted to the popular 4-3-3 formation, Chris had his way and we started kicking downhill first half at Thurlby, and there it was, the highlight,  a Jai screamer in a win against table topping Thorney. All the signs were there for a late promotion rally...and then it was over.  Stunned silence in the last training session, grown men (Chris and John) not knowing what to do with themselves (as it turned out, a lot of painting).

On a serious note, Chris and myself feel incredibly blessed to work with the group of boys we have. We welcomed Harvey, Sam, Jake and Charlie this year and they all fitted really well in with the old timers that have now been with us for a long time. The team have been a joy in training, attending in large number every week and trying hard to impress (especially when my assessor came!). We are delighted that it looks like all of them have re-signed for next year. Our thanks also to the parents who have provided excellent support and encouragement for the team throughout the season. Finally, a special thanks to Chris who works tirelessly for both the team and the club in general. We are lucky to have that level of support (can we have an away kit again?). All the best for now. See you next season.
